I make these bronze (and copper) riveted bangles...I've given them a slightly hammered finish before their polishing. 2 hand-forged chunky rivets hold the bangle into its shape. I generally use one (or 2) sterling rivets; sometimes the second rivet is either copper or bronze. They measure approximately 1/4" in width and are a weight that is heavy enough to feel substantial, but not too cumbersome. They are lovely worn in a group of bangles or as I do, added in with other pieces.
...oh yes, I also make them in sterling (generally with contrasting riveted pins).
You are not measuring your wrist size, but the breadth of your hand, for fit.
